Riding Lessons

Riding lessons will be tailored to the camper’s skill level and personal goals.  Summit Farm’s instructors have extensive knowledge and experience. Children of all ages and riding ability will learn and grow in a setting that emphasizes safety without sacrificing the element of fun!  Examples of riding lessons include: obstacle courses, mounted games, bareback riding, drill team patterns, trail rides, jumping, Western riding, extending and collecting your horses stride at the walk, trot and canter, and more!

Horsemanship Lessons

Campers learn that there is a lot more to horses than riding—twice daily horsemanship lessons will teach campers many of the skills and knowledge that go into the everyday care of horses. Horsemanship lessons will include a weekly clinic of natural horsemanship, grooming and saddling, parts of the horse, parts of the saddle, vet care, farrier care, colors and markings, breeds, a horse’s senses, feeding, bathing, stable chores, and disciplines. Special guest appearances will be made by our vet, farrier and dentist to provide expert knowledge and live action demonstrations. Campers will be having so much fun that they won’t realize how much they’ve learned until the end of the week when a friendly game of Horse Jeopardy will put their newly acquired knowledge to the test…

Group Activity

Once a day, campers will participate in a group activity, where the #1 focus becomes FUN.  Group activities will include ice breaker and team building activities, as well as games, such as barn scavenger hunts, horseshoe toss, stick pony races, horse charades, lead rope tug of war, and more!

Campers will get through the heat of the day by escaping to the swimming pool at Salem golf Club each afternoon for a refreshing swim with Ice Cream!  Certified lifeguards will be on hand as your camper chooses to enjoy open swim or relax poolside.  In the event of inclement weather, a rain activity will take place.
